Office 2010 The Movie

Office 2010 The Movie Header

Microsoft attempts something different with their new marketing hype of the upcoming Office release 14, also known as Office 2010.

Launching www.office2010themovie.com, we’ re treated to some semi-witty movie trailer-esque videos. While showing us that Microsoft likes to be witty and creative with their marketing, they don’t really reveal much in detail about the new Office 2010 release (at the time of writing). So to make up for Microsoft’s shortcomings, I have included a video that shows some actual footage from the Office 2010  Technical Preview, courtesy of YouTube user lukychan.

You can actually sign up for the chance to try out the Office 2010 Technical Preview for yourself in July if you put yourself on Microsoft’s waitlist.

One important thing we do know is that it will be released in both 32-bit (x86) and 64-bit (x64) versions. We also know that Microsoft is focusing on options for adapting the Office suite to suit the needs of different types of users. It will be interesting to see how that plays out in the final product.

Still, it’s definitely worth checking out if you’re still trying to recover from their dreadfully awkward Songsmith commercial. (Click “Read the rest…” below the Office 2010 videos following to see it. It’s not for the faint of heart, so consider yourself warned.)

Blu-Ray And HD-DVD Without Restrictions

AnyDVD HD boxAnyDVD HD enables you to watch your Blu-Ray movies region-free and over a digital display connection without HDCP compliant graphics card and HDCP compliant monitor or flatscreen TV.

The creators of AnyDVD recently released a new version of AnyDVD HD which enables support for movies with the latest security measures, such as the Transformers HD-DVD, as well as touting the ability to ”Playback your discs on your PC with PowerDVD Ultra, which otherwise do not run (titles released by Studio Canal, The Weinstein Company, Kinowelt, Optimum Releasing)”, as one of the key selling points of their latest version.

Probably the most popular feature however, is decryption of Blu-Ray movies. This enables ripping your movie titles for safe storage or to convert them into smaller size portable versions.

I would definitely buy a Drobo if they launch it over here in Norway.

Anu Shukla On Entrepreneurship

I found this interview quite interesting because I recently rekindled my interest in entrepreneurship after having studied it a bit during my recent last semester, and even ventured on some very small entrepreneurial projects myself in the past.

I found the part later in the interview, when Shukla mentions how the technology of Web 2.0 is opening up new opportunities especially for low-cost startups, especially interesting.

From PodTech: “Anu Shukla is a serial entrepreneur who is currently busy with MyOfferPal, her third start-up, now in stealth mode (it recently received VC funding).”

Work Less, Live More

Robert Scoble interviewed Timothy Ferriss about his new book called “4-Hour Work Week“.

Ferriss brings up some really great points in this video interview, the gist of it being tips on how to live more and work less.

When you think about it, are you actually working just for work’s sake or are you working in order to reach your own life goals?
