Bay on Transformers 4, Statham about rumored lead

Michael Bay is a happy boy, thanks to toys

Michael Bay, when asked about the possibility of directing the two upcoming Transformers movies:

“I am currently not talking to Paramount on T4 and T5 despite reports. I’m looking at a lot of possibilities coming my way right now weighing options. Most likely going to be doing the low budget Pain and Gain, a true story crime thriller. It’s a very quick shoot and quite funny. Also just finishing the 3 disc set of the Transformer trilogy.”

Originally, Bay was going to call it quits after completing the trilogy with Transformers: Dark of the Moon. Except, it grossed about a billion dollars at the box office last summer.

It’s now pretty much safe to say that Michael Bay will be directing Transformers 4, as long as he gets to finish his little Pain and Gain movie first. Paramount would be wise to let him do that. It remains to be seen whether he will also be directing part 5 back-to-back, but it’s very likely as it would be very cost-effective.

Optimus and Statham sharing cigs in the near future?

Jason Statham is rumored to be in line to replace LaBeouf as the lead in the fouth and fifth installments in the Transformers series. Well, this is what the actionman had to say about that:

“You know, I don’t know how those things start. You read them. Someone told me about it. [But] the internet is a dangerous place. [laughs] There’s a lot of stuff out there… I’ve got a lot of stuff in front of me, but Michael Bay is a talented man. This last [Transformers movie] just made a billion dollars around the world, so people like his films. He’s a talented man.”

With all the characters that were killed off in the third movie as the story wrapped up, there’s a lot of speculation about the plot for the next two Transformers movies. It’s likely that the plot will bring in lots and lots of new characters, maybe even some from the other animated TV series. That being said, according to an inside source, fans will be heard:

“Regular people might not care about bringing out a character like Sentinel Prime. But believe me, fans of the series cared.”

Transformers 4 will likely not start filming until 2013, with a release in the summer of 2014.
